In the past year NAPSG Foundation has hosted 9 different regional events. All of our past events were educational opportunities that aimed to convene the public safety and homeland security communities across the United States. Our events over the past year have achieved the following:
- Reached over 1,300 local, county, state, and tribal public safety practitioners
- Convened practitioners from 35 different states in the past 2 years
- Conducted a national needs assesment to determine high priorities for the public safety & homeland security communities
- Over 90% of participants expressed a need for more support to advance their use of GIS, indicating their top prioirity needs are: training in tactical use of GIS, regional education workshops, and structured mentorship programs
In every single event, workshop, and users group we hold we learn something new from the practitioners. And at every step we seek to improve the quality of the programming to maximize our impact.
Below are the agendas from several of our past events. Feel free to take a look. Be sure to visit the Upcoming Events page to learn about current opportunities in your area!

2011 Regional Public Safety GIS Workshops
The Regional Public Safety GIS Workshops were hosted as in-person education workshops designed to provide cross-training for both public safety officials from all levels of government & disciplines AND GIS & IT practitioners.
Our goal for the 2011 workshop series was to bring together public safety officials & GIS/IT practitioners to foster collaboration that will give way to broader and advanced use of geospatial technology for enhanced emergency response and community resilience. These workshops served as the flagship education & training forum on public safety GIS in each of the regions.
